Laws do not create direction; policy does.
Syrian Global Leaders is an editorial publication. Not a directory. Not a community page. A selective, permanent record of Syrians of consequence worldwide.
Figures as of October 2, 2026. Engagement is the lifetime page average.
Syrian Global Leaders exists to fix that. Not through celebration. Not through a list. Through a permanent editorial record, the kind that lasts, that can be cited, that documents contribution at the level it deserves.
Every profile on this record passed a rigorous vetting process built in several layers. Every name earned its place. That standard is the only thing that makes the record worth reading.
The permanent editorial record. Four a week, Sunday through Wednesday. Every subject independently vetted. No exceptions.
A named contributor writes in the first person under the SGL masthead. Every Thursday, by invitation only.
Bassel ALHALABI in the first person. Every Friday. No spin. No positioning. What he actually thinks.
The newsletter. Every Sunday, one sharp point and one question, straight to your inbox.
All times Arabia Standard Time (Doha). LinkedIn is the publishing home.
Once a week, someone of consequence writes for the record instead of being written about. One named contributor, in the first person, edited by SGL and published every Thursday.
Laws do not create direction; policy does.
Nine sectors, one standard. The record grows wherever the evidence is strongest.

There is no shortage of Syrians doing serious work. There is a shortage of people documenting it at the level it deserves.
This record exists because serious work deserves serious documentation. Not a LinkedIn post that disappears in 48 hours. Not a press release from an organization with an agenda. An editorial record, vetted, permanent, built on evidence.
Every Friday, I write from one angle: what this tells us about what Syrians are actually capable of when the world pays attention. Five lenses rotate: the Question, the Argument, the Pattern, the Number, and the Moment. All first person. No spin.
The standard is high. If a candidate doesn't clear it, they don't get in. Not because I doubt their work, but because a record is only worth what you keep out of it.
Subjects on the record lead hospitals, companies, labs, and institutions across North America, Europe, and the Middle East, and inside Syria.
Syrian Global Leaders does not accept submissions. SGL does not run profiles in exchange for promotion or partnership.
Every candidate is independently researched across several layers. The vetting process is thorough, consistent, and applied without exception. If a candidate does not clear the bar, they do not get in, regardless of name recognition or public profile. A missed week is recoverable. A weak profile on the record is permanent.
Verifiable contribution to their field. Not potential. Not promise. What they built, ran, treated, funded, or published.
Born, raised, or educated in Syria, or a sustained career inside Syria. Descent alone does not qualify. No confirmation, no profile.
Does the contribution matter at a level that belongs in a permanent record? The bar is consequence, not accomplishment.
Every factual claim is checked against primary sources. If it cannot be confirmed independently, it does not appear.
No subject, sponsor, or partner influences a vetting decision or editorial content. The record answers to the standard, not to relationships.
Would this profile hold up in a serious retrospective on Syrian contribution a decade from now? Every candidate is measured against that question.
No profile runs in exchange for promotion. No profile runs for a subject who wants to use SGL as a platform. No sponsor can attach their name to a specific profile. If a featured subject objects to accurate editorial content, SGL verifies the facts and does not pull the record. That standard is not negotiable. It is the only thing that makes this record worth reading.
Four Core Profiles a week, Sunday through Wednesday. The Guest Column on Thursday. The Founder's Note on Friday. The Record newsletter on Sunday evening.
